Journal Entry # 2 [Video]

[Dipper pops up on the network, looking unhappy and exhausted. And covered in dirt, leaves, and Meowstic fur.]

I decided to explore Ilex Forest due to the stories of a legendary Pokémon named Celebi. After a week of getting lost in these dense trees, I found the shrine. There's nothing special about it.

[Just going to pan around and show just how lost he is in these woods.]

I've found Pokémon, weird mushrooms, and my cat evolved. I've caught a balloon, a thing with a leaf on its head, and an owl. My PokéDex tells me those are a Drifloon, Chikorita, and a Hoothoot. There's other noteworthy Pokémon in this place, but no Celebi.

[Said cat pops up on the screen, and a male Meowstic waves at everyone.]

It's week three in this forest. Or so the calendar tells me. I may die in this forest unless I find a way out.

[The broadcast cuts out. Seems Dipper may have been trying to make something like an actual journal entry and in his exhaustion has posted to the network instead. Please save him. Or just give him directions out of there.]

Why would I eat the berries? They heal status effects on Pokemon. I'm not a Pokemon.

Well, you said you'd been in the woods for three weeks.

I kinda assumed you might be getting a little hungry by this point.

They haven't poisoned me, and they seem to know what I like to eat... these creatures must have something close to a human intelligence. Or they're lucky at guessing.

I know a few straight-up know how to talk-- or at least write-- like a person. I had an entire extended conversation with someone's Snubbull about literature once.

They can definitely understand you if you talk to them, in any case.

--looks like, uh... oh, wow. First thing that comes up is the Ruins of Alph? That's between Violet and Azalea-- closer to Violet, though.

Great! I was gonna go back to that place! Did you know my friend Penny has a theory that each of the letters of Unknown has a different special power? I told her it probably wasn't possible, but I might just catch a whole bunch of those to see if maybe she's right or if I'm right. I can catch a Smeargle while I'm there!

Heh, well, I didn't know anyone specifically named PENNY had a theory, but I do know that those things once nearly turned the entire city of Violet into crystal.

Violet's not that bad, is it? I mean, yeah, I left as soon as I could the past couple times, but the people there were nice. Why?

Oh man, where do I start?

For one thing, it's a dang chore to get out of that place once you're there. Not for any, like, physical reason, it's just like you keep finding reasons to STAY there. Even though it's a lousy town.

Like it's got some kinda... magnetism or somethin' going on.

Oh, I didn't say anything about WANTING! Who WANTS to stay in that dump? Not me, but I wound up there for months and then kept winding up having to go back.

Okay, here's what you gotta do.

Beat Falkner at the Violet City gym, and he'll teach your Pokemon how to actually fly while carrying people, which... I guess is more difficult than it sounds.

BUT.

You're can't technically do it till you get all the way to Cianwood City and beat Chuck. Which is on an island. Which you have to get to without flying.

Because screw fairness, I guess.
