Journal Entry # 3 [Video]

[There's a Dipper on the screen who is trying not to look sad, and he's much more subdued than the past few videos. He seems to be on the outside of the Ruins of Alph. His Pokémon are seen trying to comfort a Xatu, who just.... is staring at the screen behind Dipper. Welcome to the party, Hitchcock.]

So my Grunkle Stan is gone. He wasn't there this morning when I woke up. I don't know if anyone will even miss him, but if you got any of his Pokémon... go ahead and keep them. I don't think I can take care of them all on my own. He left me with Misery.

[Which, for those who don't know the Persian, might sound like he's been left with literal misery.]

I'm gonna be at the Ruins of Alph for a while. If anyone wants to join me, let me know? Just going to explore it some more.

[The screen turns off. This boy needs some cheering up, or just a friend to come hang out with him.]

Of course I don't! Why would I want to room with an adult? I didn't even room with my grunkle unless he made me.

[Weird noises and smells and all.]

Well, unless you bring a friend, then you've probably got the space to yourself, yeah. And if you bring a friend you probably oughta tell us first. Not a good idea to surprise old soldiers.

No, the only person I'd want rooming with me is my sister, Mabel. And all of my friends are adults, I think, and they got places of their own. [At least he thinks they do...]

Well, if your sister shows up, then she's got a free pass to bunk at our place, too. Siblings are important.

[Should Dipper warn York? Should he? It might be better if he was warned... ]

Mabel's... a bit different from how I am.

She likes rainbows, unicorns, her grappling hook, glitter, and everything girly. And she has a pig named Waddles.

Oh, pssht, dude, that's fine. As long as she's not gonna feel outta place living with a bunch of old space dogs, she'll do great.

We live in a curio shop back home with a man in his 50's, a handyman, a goat, and a pig. I think she'll be fine living with soldiers.

No, just Waddles. The goat just kind of stuck around in the yard... actually... I'm not even sure where the goat came from.

Okay, 'cause that was my next question, doesn't the goat eat everything in your house. Not an issue, gotcha. I guess it's fine, anyway, we let our Pokémon roam the premises here, too.

Waddles ate a lot of random things in the house. Mabel didn't seem to really care. My Pokémon are way better behaved!

Polite Pokémon are appreciated, man. Ours can get a little rowdy sometimes, but I think a large part of that's that North and I are both registered as Breeders, so sometimes there's a lot of little cubs and kittens running around.

Breeders? Wait... you hatch the eggs there? Why not give them to that training center place? They can adopt them out if you've got too many.

Oh, no, no, we don't keep 'em all. But we try to maintain a broad roster with good moves, so we buy a lot of eggs for ourselves, too. Or I do, anyway.

I bought a few eggs myself. I read that hatching them makes them friendlier, and there might be good moves bred onto them. Like moves they usually can't learn unless you get them a TM or HM.

Yeah, that's the idea. The breeder buys the TMs for the parents and then the payout's in their kids. I try to make sure all of mine get something that way, though it doesn't always work out.

Huh. I got a really good Cyndaquil from a guy named Luke before Christmas. He used a lot of good TM's on the parents!
