Journal Entry # 1 [Video/Action]
[Anyone who walks by or happens to be watching the network feed will see a frustrated kid siting on the grass and flipping through an old, battered journal.]
There isn't anything in this book about 'Pokémon'! Or how a sheep can produce electricity! That mom lady must have been a shape-shifter who didn't look anything like my mom... and that professor makes McGucket look sane...
[The gear moves towards the boy before it's tossed to the ground. Unfortunately, it lands face down, obscuring whatever threw it and the boy.]
Hey! Don't break that. We might need it later.

Mysteries in a small town.
[Color him curious.]
Is there anything about ghosts in it?
[More questions. Is this guy honest or is there something he's hiding?]
I see...mysteries are my favorite kinds of stories. It sounds like that must be full of pretty good ones.
[He assumes, anyway, since Dipper's still being kindof cagey about it.]
[Serious child is serious.]
[Sounds like he's got an overactive imagination, for a kid. Assuming this book is just that- a book of fiction someone wrote.]
[Not that he has any photographic proof. Oh, if only Mabel were here, or his grunkle Stan would talk to this guy...]
[Spill, Dipper.]
Things that will give you nightmares.
Wow...it sounds pretty intense.
Life and death situations are like that.
So...do you like to read?
ISN'T IT OBVIOUS]
Yeah, I like to read.
...would you possibly be interested in joining a book club, then?
No.
[I mean.]
YES.
My friend Maka started up a book club not long ago. We have meetings every now and then. Her Alakazam can bring people over who can't travel that far themselves, so that wouldn't be a problem, if you're interested.
[...ah, right-]
I'm Kaneki Ken, by the way. I never introduced myself.
Maka. Right... wait... Alakazam. Like those magi words "Abra Kadabra Alakazam?"
[Intro time.]
Dipper Pines.
It's nice to meet you, Dipper-san.
Are they magicians?
-san? Are you from Japan?
And I am, yes. I'm from Tokyo.
Why are Japanese horror movies so weird?
[Ju-on, man. Ju-on.]
I...don't know?
Japan sure has a different take on what's scary.
[Some American "scary movies" are just as weird, man. Not like he'd know though...he's not much of a movie watcher anyway.]
[Eight Legged Freaks is a really weird horror movie. Mutated spiders were a horror movie staple.]
