[Anyone who walks by or happens to be watching the network feed will see a frustrated kid siting on the grass and flipping through an old, battered journal.]

There isn't anything in this book about 'Pokémon'! Or how a sheep can produce electricity! That mom lady must have been a shape-shifter who didn't look anything like my mom... and that professor makes McGucket look sane...

[The gear moves towards the boy before it's tossed to the ground. Unfortunately, it lands face down, obscuring whatever threw it and the boy.]

[Just throw your expensive video phone around like it's no big deal, that's not risky or anything. That kid is going to be so sad when it eventually breaks if he keeps that up...

[Well, at least she's not the only one that got abruptly dropped off into a new and strange world. After some fiddling with the clothes she was left with and finding a place to change into them/layer them under her witchy robes (forgoing the boots because how the hell is she supposed to walk in those) Jade's ready to set off and make her way into the world of Pokemon.

It's just seeing this kid here has caused her to stop and kneel down to his level.]

I'm pretty sure this "mom" person isn't a shapeshifter, if you ask me.

They seem more like some kind of AI.

Your book might not include any information about Pokémon, but the handbook you received should cover the basics. Any additional question concerning them can be addressed to your fellow trainers and breeders on the network, of course.

[After all, what's the point of having a communication device that covers two whole regions if you can't use it to ask random questions at two in the morning?]

'Mother' is... ill, as far as we can tell. For a few minutes, she sincerely believes that every person who arrives in her home is her own child.

I noticed. It's winter here, isn't it... strange, I just came from a place where it was summer.

[Definitely something to look into. And this guy looked strange. Hmm....]

[A shriek was an understatement. Where did this girl come from????

Dipper tries not to back away from sudden stranger in his face. She didn't look like she could harm him... then again, neither ad Wendy when he first met her. Girls are still a mystery he can't solve at the age of 12.]

N-No! I'm fine! I mean, y-yeah, I just got here.

I thought it was weird too, zura! I just assumed I wasn't paying attention and missed a season, zura.

Apparently she's been doing this for years, so I imagine if she wanted to start killing us all she would have done it before now.

As long as no new arrivals try doing anything stupid with her I'm sure we'll be safe

A journal? My, those are quite popular these days. Helping her would be much easier if she did not lock her door most of the time, or if we were encouraged to stay in New Bark Town with an inn or a Pokémon Center. But I assure you that her neighbors take good care of her.

[Though that care has obviously not led to any improvements.]

[Jade looks startled by the shriek--what the hell, she wasn't even sneaking, he just wasn't paying attention!]

[B-but still, he's a little kid, that wasn't very nice of her.]

I was looking for my friends earlier, so I figured maybe other people might be looking for theirs as well.

Doesn't it defeat the point of shapeshifting if she looks nothing like she's supposed to?

No one ever said shapeshifters were smart.

[They can be quite dumb, and he's had experience with one.]

[That's sometimes a common occurrence. So engrossed in his work that he forgets the world exists.

Dipper looks around before standing up and dusting himself off.]

I don't think any of them would come here. Not if Bill has a hand in this. But if you ever meet a girl named Mabel, that's my sister.

[He needs his own to write in to be honest. And this lady was sounding worse and worse every moment... time to make note o that in his current journal under "local loony who thinks she's everyone's mom" with a side note of "find her some help".]

I see. So this place wants you to leave as soon as you get here... maybe it's hiding some deep, dark secret.

What if she's waiting for just the right person before she snaps? Shouldn't someone stay here just in case that happens?

[Trying to seem like some tough guy right now. Way to go. He'll wear his shorts until his legs are blue and wobbly.]

["Bill"...? Is that his world's version of Lord English or Jack? God, how horrible for him, not only being alone but thinking it's because of some supernatural abomination.]

That's a funny coincidence, if you ever meet a boy named John that is probably my brother. We're twins, so he looks a little like me--though his glasses are square shaped and he has blue eyes.

But you never know! I thought I was alone here, too, until my friend found me! Maybe yours just haven't found you yet.

Well since we have Pokemon to fight her if it comes to that, I don't think we should worry if she oes snap.

Frankly I'm not entirely convinced that anyone who isn't a "new arrival" are actually "alive", if you get my drift.

Hmmm... maybe this is just deja boo. Or destiny! Yeah, we were totes destined to become friends! I can feel it in my bones!
